Hamilton County Flood Warning Effective Until 8:45PM Sunday: Flash Flood Watch Until Monday. Turn Around Don't Drown
A Flood Warning is in effect for Hamilton County until 8:45PM on Sunday and a Flash Flood Watch continues until Monday morning. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Heavy rainfall of two to five inches has already fallen and more is expected. The primary concern of flooding will be in low lying areas, agricultural fields, and near streams.
As a reminder, motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way if high water areas are encountered. Likewise, keep children away from flooded areas. It takes only a few inches of swiftly moving water to cause a person to lose balance and as little as six inches of water can sweep away a full sized truck or SUV.
The White River in Noblesville is currently expected to crest overnight at 13.8 feet; however, this is subject to change with more rain on Sunday. Past history shows:
At 11 feet: Agricultural flooding begins in the lowest areas along the White River in Hamilton County. Flooding is north and south of Noblesville. Flooding begins in the Riverwood area north of Noblesville.
At 12 feet: Riverwood Avenue in Riverwood, Riverbend Campground near Clare and White River Campground near Strawtown begin to flood.
At 14 feet: Agricultural flooding is readily visible north and south of Noblesville.
At 14.5 feet: Edith Avenue begins to flood near the Potter's Bridge area, north of Noblesville on Allisonville Road. Flooding begins in residential areas along East 116th Street in Trails End area in Fishers and along East 146th Street and Indiana 19 just north of Ind. 32.
