The North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
Friday, May 5th, 2017, officers with the Lake Lure Police Department along with other officers from agencies in our region, will be participating in the North Carolina Special Olympics Torch Run.
The race will begin at 8am and runners will carry the torch 33 miles through Rutherford County from the McDowell County line on Cove Road to the Rutherford County line on Hwy 74.
Our officers, Corporal Carl Umphlett and Corporal Aaron Collins will carry the torch 1.1 miles of the 33 mile journey from Green Hill Store on Hwy 74 to Harris Automotive.
