Subject:           Private Drinking Water Test Kits

Due to recent flooding in Missouri, the Department of Health and Senior Services, Missouri State Public Health Laboratory is waiving the private drinking water testing handling fee.

Lincoln County Health Department will have free water test kits beginning on Friday May 5th for anyone who has been affected by the recent flooding. If your well was flooded, your water should be considered unsafe until tested and proven safe. Contaminated water can cause people to become sick. Tests can be picked up from the Lincoln County Health Department Monday - Friday. Water collection should be done in the morning and returned to the health department on the same day as the collection by 10 am. Further instructions on how to obtain the sample are included in the kit. Please note that the Lincoln County Health Department will be closed on Monday, May 8, 2017.

If your well has flooded, it will need to be shock chlorinated. Details about how to shock chlorinate your well can be found at http://extension.missouri.edu/p/WQ102

Please call the health department for more information at (636) 528-6117.
