The Madison County Emergency Management & Department of Homeland Security has raised the travel status to Advisory (YELLOW) for unincorporated roads in Madison County.  A travel Advisory (YELLOW) means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas becuase of hazardous situations, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.

As of 11:30 AM, Madison County is under a Areal Flood Warning.  More than an 1" of rain has fallen in Madison County since midnight and nearly 2" in the past 24 hours has created ponding of water on roads, and low lying areas.  Madison County Highway has put out High Water signs in several locations warning motorists of the danger.   We remind all motorists, Turn Around Don't Drown.

Residents who may be in need of sand bags can pickup sand bags at the Madison County Highway Department located at 2830 W 8th Street in Anderson.  Filled sand bags are available outside of the highway garage fence 24 hours a day at this time.  The National Weather Service is predicting the White River to crest at 12.2' Friday at approximately 11:00PM.  We caution citizens to remain alert as this is a prediction and as rain continues to fall, the NWS may adjust this river crest accordingly.

Residents should remain vigilant and watch for quickly rising flood waters if they live in flood prone areas and/or low lying areas.
