Sand and Sandbags have been prepositioned at the Fairgrounds and EMS#3 for citizens and private property. Each location has 3,000 bags with at least a ton of sand at each location. All supplies are first come first serve & all sandbagging is self service. We recommend bringing your own shovel as provided ones are frequently stolen.
The National Weather Service is predicting the White River to crest at 12.2' Friday at approximately 11:00PM. We caution citizens to remain alert as this is a prediction and as rain continues to fall, the NWS may adjust this river crest accordingly. Please stay out of the water as increasing danger is present during heavy rainfall.
Instructions:
Residents should remain vigilant and watch for quickly rising flood waters if they live in flood prone areas and/or low lying areas. Pay attention to High Water signs in several locations warning motorists of the danger. We remind all motorists, Turn Around Don't Drown.
