Attention Rutgers Community:
An alert was issued on May 3, 2017, in reference to an affiliated victim who reported awaking to find an unidentified male in her bedroom at approximately 4:45 AM on May 3, 2017. The suspicious male fled the residence when confronted.
An arrest has been made in this case. Curtis Smith, a 25 year old male, was taken into custody without incident on May 4, 2017, and charged with Burglary and Harassment.
The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, to contact the New Brunswick Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217 and ask for Detective Drew Weiss.
The Rutgers University Police Department reminds you that you can reduce your chances of being a crime victim by taking reasonable precautions, including:
• Immediately reporting suspicious activity to local law enforcement;
• Remaining alert and aware of the people and circumstances around you;
• Avoid isolated or dark areas;
• Walking in groups when traveling during late night hours, make sure residence doors and windows are locked at night.

The escorts provide our community with personalized service to their vehicles, campus residence, or the University's mass transit system.
