Man arrested for Felony Fleeing to Elude.
On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at approximately 12:15pm Hope Mills Police Officers responded to Walmart on North Main Street in reference to a theft in progress. Upon arrival in the area, an Officer spotted the suspect attempting to leave the area in a black in color Jeep Cherokee. When the Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect accelerated away and attempted to elude the Officer by traveling at a high rate of speed on Camden Road towards the Hope Mills Road intersection where the suspect turned left onto Hope Mills Road. The Officer continued to pursue the vehicle on Hope Mills Road but, terminated the pursuit between George Owen Road and Cumberland Road due to traffic conditions and the driving behavior of the suspect. The suspect vehicle then continued to travel north on Hope Mills Road towards Cumberland Road at a high rate of speed and struck a vehicle as it passed through the Cumberland Road intersection. There were no injuries involved with that collision.
The suspect, later identified as Tyree Shimron Jacobs, 33 of the 6800 block of Radial Drive, Fayetteville was located and, taken into custody later that afternoon at the Carolina Motor Inn on US301 by Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies. Jacobs was turned over to Hope Mills Officers who transported him to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond for the following charges:
1 count of Felony Fleeing to Elude
1 count of Felony Probation Violation
1 count of Misdemeanor Careless and Reckless Driving
1 count of Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked
