INCIDENT: CVC 10851-Vehicle Theft, PC 496- Possession of Stolen Property, PC 4573- Bring Controlled Substance into a Jail Facility

LOCATION: C Avenue and Nancy Street, Barstow

SUSPECT: Eric Burdett, 20 years old, resident of Lenwood

SUMMARY:
On May 6, 2017 at 4:24 am, Deputy Bubier was working proactive patrol in the County area of Barstow. Deputy Bubier was driving on Main Street in the City of Barstow an observed a vehicle driving erratically and was jeopardizing the safety of the public. Deputy Bubier began following the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle began turning down side streets as if trying to avoid the deputy following him and then stopped at the corner of Nancy Street and C Avenue in the City of Barstow. Deputy Bubier and Deputy Woods initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and a records check of the vehicle showed it to be stolen from Barstow City several hours earlier. The driver of the vehicle was contacted and identified as Eric Burdett. Burdett was positively identified by the victim as the suspect who had stolen his vehicle.

Burdett was arrested for possession of stolen property and vehicle theft. During the booking process at the Barstow Jail, Burdett was found to have narcotics hidden on him. Burdett was booked at the Barstow Jail and is currently being held on $60,000 bail.
