Muncie Man Who Demands A Ride Gets One...To Jail
Muncie – Around 2 a.m. Saturday morning two troopers were driving through Muncie in an unmarked ISP vehicle, with the trooper driving being in plain clothes but the passenger, Trooper Lee Tinch, being in full ISP uniform. They were south bound on Walnut when, as they approached 8th St., a white male stumbled out into the road in their path.
As they neared the man he began shouting to them “Let me in, I’m tired of walking”-(expletives removed.) The man then attempted to get into their vehicle. Trooper Tinch exited in full uniform and began talking with the man, John Johnson, age 50 of Muncie. A field test revealed Mr. Johnson had a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Johnson was wanted on a warrant for Non Support of a Dependent and was also in possession of Marijuana. Due to his high blood alcohol level the troopers first gave Mr. Johnson a ride to I.U. Health Ball Hospital to be checked out.
After being cleared from there, troopers gave Mr. Johnson a ride to the Delaware County Jail where he was lodged for the Non Support of a Dependent warrant and misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana. As a reminder, if you’re going to be out celebrating please call a taxi, Uber or sober friend or family member for a ride. Always plan ahead and have a designated driver.
