FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On May 4, 2017 at approximately 11:30 PM an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department made consensual contact with a male subject that was walking in the 700 block of Tuolumne Avenue.
The male was identified as 39 year old Angels Camp resident, Johnathan Combs. Combs told the officer that he was in the possession of marijuana and is on probation for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
The officer verified Combs' probation status and searched Combs'. The officer located .10 gram of methamphetamine and approximately two grams of marijuana in Combs' possession.
Combs was arrested, cited and released for the following charge:
11377 (a) HS - Possession of a Controlled Substance.
While in the area with Combs, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from an occupied vehicle that was parked in the 600 block of Tuolumne Avenue.
After releasing Combs, the officer made contact with the occupant of the vehicle and identified him as 51 year old Modesto resident, Donald Luft.
Luft told the officer that he was in the area to visit a friend, and that he is on probation and may have a warrant.
The officer confirmed that Luft had a warrant and placed him under arrest.
Subsequent to arrest, the officer searched Luft and the vehicle. The officer located $2,700.00, 6.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of marijuana, and two hydrocodone pills.
Luft was transported to the Calaveras County Jail and booked on the following charges:
11379(a) HS - Transportation of a Controlled Substance
11377(a) HS - Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine)
11350 (a) HS - Possession of a Controlled Substance (hydrocodone)
11378 HS - Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales
