The City of Wisconsin Dells has enacted an ordinance regulating the riding in cargo areas. This ordinance was passed by city council and has been published. As required by this ordinance, the chief of police has made proper notification to the city council that the ordinance would be enforced May19-21. The city council has approved the notification.

10.30 RIDING IN CARGO AREAS (1) The Chief of Police is authorized to prohibit during periods of high traffic volume and activity associated with special events and festivals, the operation of a motor vehicle upon a street or highway with any persons riding in the cargo area. (2) The Chief of Police shall notify the Mayor and Common Council in writing, at least 21 days in advance of the exercise of this authority. The Mayor and Common Council may approve or reject this notification. (3) The Chief shall post and erect such signs and notices as needed to provide reasonable warning of this temporary restriction. (4) No person shall be issued a citation for an offense until they have first been issued a warning. (5) The penalty shall be $503.
