Temple Station deputies participating in Annual Memorial Torch Relay Run
Temple Station personnel will be participating in Annual Memorial Torch Relay Run. The run will take place tomorrow May 19, 2017.
The run route will take our runners Eastbound on Las Tunas Dr until reaching their handoff destination on Arrow Hwy and Azusa Ave in Covina.
The Annual Memorial Torch Relay Run honors the memory of those brave and dedicated individuals in Los Angeles County who have sacrificed their lives in the performance of their duties.
The run starts at The Hall of Justice located at 211 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles on Friday, at 0900 hours, with a commemorative Torch Ceremony.
The Torch Relay consists of 56 legs, five to ten miles long, and travels to each mainland Sheriff's station in a circuit totaling 313 miles.
Temple Station has the honor of taking the torch from our partners from County Services Bureau. The exchange will occur in front of Temple Station at approximately 11:40 a.m. Our deputies will run 5 miles to the David March Memorial located at Live Oak Ave just east of Myrtle Ave in Irwindale.
After a very brief stop at the memorial, Temple deputies will continue another 5 miles to the intersection of Arrow Hwy and Azusa Av in the city of Covina where they will hand off the torch to deputies from San Dimas Station.
There will be no street closures associated with the run. However, there might be temporary delays, for the safety of the runners, as we block off intersections as the runners run through them.
If time permits, and you are in the area, come on out and cheer our runners on.
