West High School Robbery Follow-up Investigation
On May 17th, 2017, at approximately 4:25 p.m., the Torrance Police Department began investigating a robbery which allegedly occurred in the West High School parking lot. The 16 year old female student-victim advised she was assaulted by (2) two male suspects upon approaching her parked vehicle. The suspects pushed her to the ground then ultimately stole $5.00.
After a thorough investigation, and review of the evidence, it was determined that the crime did not occur. The student later admitted to making the false report to detectives.
The Torrance Police Department discourages false reporting from persons of all ages, but more importantly, is relieved this student was not victimized.
The Torrance Police Department will partner with the Torrance Unified School District in meeting with the student and her parents for follow up and counsel.
