Robbery investigation
On May 18, 2017 at 5:25 pm the Columbia Township Police Department was dispatched to a robbery that just occurred at 170 S. Main St in the village of Brooklyn. Officer’s arrived at Smokin’ Sam’s Tobacco Shop and learned that two suspects had forced their way into the store through a side door of the business.
Once inside the business, one of the suspects stated they were armed, however the firearm was never seen by the victim. The victim was assaulted and forced into the restroom where he was instructed to remain while the crime was completed.
The suspects ultimately left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Investigating officers processed the scene and secured evidence.
A K-9 was called in to assist and was able to run a track through part of the Village.
The suspects are both identified as males. One suspect is a white male 5’10” weighing an estimated 190 pounds and is approximately 30 years of age. This suspect was last seen wearing light colored shorts, dark colored t-shirt, and a backpack. The second suspect was a male of unknown description.
The Columbia Township Police Department was assisted by the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety (Officer Boulter and his K-9 partner). Also assisting was the Napoleon Township Police Department as.
