Deputy Finds Critically Injured Women in Her Home After a Week

LOCATION: 34000 block of Western Drive, Lenwood
SUMMARY: On May 18, 2017, at approximately 5:15 a.m., a woman reported she was unable to contact her 66-year-old sister for a few days and was worried. Barstow Sheriff’s Deputy David Johnson drove to the woman’s residence to check on her. He found suspicious circumstances and entered the residence. Inside he found the woman emaciated and on the floor and he quickly summoned medical aid. The woman was confused, malnourished and weighed an estimated 70 pounds. Johnson later determined she had taken a serious fall and was in the same spot for approximately one week. She had been unable to get up or reach her a telephone to summon help. The woman was rushed to Barstow Community Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition. She will be transferred to a long-term care facility for rehabilitation.
