Well 71 Ready for Service

Las Cruces Utilities will perform a fire hydrant preventative maintenance exercise at 10 p.m. Friday, May 19, in preparation to place Well 71, located at 451 Burn Lake Rd., into service.

These actions could create discolored water for residents and businesses in the Burn Lake Road/Lakeside Drive area extending east. Affected areas may range from Lakeside Dr. to Espina Street and from Amador Avenue to Idaho Road. Discoloration is due to naturally occurring iron and manganese in the water. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

Any discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents and businesses should flush all cold water faucets for five minutes. If discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for assistance. The TTY number is 575/541-2182.
