Press Release: Officer Involved Shooting

On May 20, 2017 at 11:36 a.m. the Pleasanton Police Department received a 911 call regarding a family disturbance on Burgundy Drive. When officers arrived, the garage door of the residence opened revealing an armed adult male. The male immediately advanced on the officers while pointing a firearm in their direction. One of the responding officers fired his weapon, hitting the male.

The male succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No officers or witnesses were injured during this incident. Several streets in the surrounding area are closed to traffic while agencies continue this investigation. The Pleasanton Police Department is working in conjunction with the Alameda County Crime Lab for this investigation. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will be conducting an independent investigation into this incident.

Identification of the male and the responding officers are being withheld at this time. This investigation is still in its early stages, more information will be released when the facts become available.
