Hockley County Sheriff's Office activities and calls for service for 5/19/17 through 5/23/17.
Good morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 5/19/17, through Tuesday, 5/23/17.
5/19/17
-1100 blk Alaska Rd, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to the area regarding a complaint of individuals selling door-to-door in the area. A second call was received from the 1800 blk County Rd. It was determined the individuals worked for a local company and were selling services in areas outside of the city.
-6000 blk East Hwy 114, Smyer: A deputy responded to a call about an individual walking along the highway. The deputy contacted the individual, who requested a ride home due to the heat. The individual was transported to his residence.
-FM 1585 at Hardhat Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A call was received about loose cattle in the area. The area was searched by the deputy and no loose cattle were located. All were secured.
-3200 blk FM 2646, Levelland: Assault. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area related to an individual who had been shot by a relative. Deputies secured the scene and located one individual who suffered a non-life threatening injury. The individual was transported for medical treatment by EMS. An investigation into the incident was initiated and is currently underway. More information will be released when it is available.
-Hwy 114 at Owl Rd, Smyer: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a call in the area regarding child custody issues. Civil remedies were advised to all parties involved.
-3rd St at Veal, Sundown: Assist Sundown PD. Deputies responded to assist Sundown Police with an active pursuit. Deputies were advised the individual fled the scene on foot. The area was searched and the individual was not located.
-6900 blk Elephant Rd, Smyer: Assault. A deputy responded to a reported assault at a residence in the area. One of the parties advised an assault occurred and minor injury was observed. Deputies learned the suspect had an active warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody for the warrant. A report was completed for the reported offense.
5/20/17
-Hwy 385 at FM 1585, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy responded to a complaint of an individual walking in the roadway. The area was searched and no one was located in the area.
-800 blk School St, Sundown: Disorderly Conduct. A deputy responded to a reported fight involving two individuals. The individuals were located and it was determined both agreed to engage in the conduct. Parties were separated and a report was completed related to the incident.
-6700 blk FM 597, Anton: Harassment. Deputies responded to a call related to an individual being harassed by a family member of an ex-girlfriend. Information was collected and remedies were advised. No offenses were reported to deputies.
-100 blk Eagle, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to a call regarding an individual being “chased” in the area. No offenses were reported by any party involved and all parties were separated.
-1500 blk Avenue X, Levelland: Shots Fired. Deputies responded to calls of shots fired in the area. Two calls were received related to the incident. A complainant advised individual in a Ford pickup truck were believed to have shot from the vehicle on the roadway. The area was searched and no vehicle was located.
5/21/17
-200 blk Cleveland, Smyer: Welfare Check. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant regarding child custody issues, and a request for a check of his child at a residence in the area. Civil remedies were explained, and there was no one at the residence when deputies tried to locate them.
-2800 blk FM 1490, Levelland: Theft. Deputies responded to a reported theft of property from a residence in the area. A complainant advised that at some point during the previous several weeks an ATV was taken from the property. Information was collected for a report and an investigation is being conducted.
-800 blk East 8th St, Anton: Possible Suicide Attempt. Deputies responded to assist with a possible suicide attempt. EMS was on scene and one individual was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated.
-100 blk Hwy 114 Estates, Smyer: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a silver sedan driving in the area. Deputies checked the area and the vehicle was not located. The only individual contact was a property owner checking on equipment on his land. No offenses were reported.
5/22/17
-6800 blk Arkansas Rd, Smyer: Shots Fired. A deputy received a report of individuals shooting on property in the area. All individuals were contacted and no offenses were observed or reported.
-500 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Theft. A deputy completed a report related to a theft of an ATV from property in the area. Video was also recovered from the owner. The information was collected for a report and the investigation is ongoing.
-100 blk Cleveland, Smyer: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a verbal disturbance at a residence in the area. All parties were contacted and it was determined no offenses occurred.
5/23/17
-Mason Rd at East Ellis, Smyer: Stolen Vehicle. Deputies responded to the area related to a stolen vehicle being located. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Lubbock and was recovered. Arrangements were made to have the vehicle returned to the owner.
-700 blk Carson, Ropesville: Disturbance. A deputy was notified of a verbal disturbance at a residence in the area. Parties advised the incident was verbal only and no offenses were reported. Parties separated for the night.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.
Jail population as of 5/24/17 at 0800 hours: 46 in Hockley County, 5 to be processed, and 13 out-of-county.
