TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Clinton Township Police Officer in Charge Lt. Doug Higgins announced that two burglary suspects are in custody in Clinton Township.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at approximately 11:00pm, Tewksbury Township Police responded to Old Mine Road for a burglary in progress. While enroute to assist Tewksbury, a Clinton Township police officer observed the suspect vehicle flee the scene and eventually crash on Route 22 near Cokesbury Road. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot chase.”
The Prosecutor added, “On Wednesday, May 24th, at approximately 9:00am, a homeowner on Main Street in Lebanon Borough reported a trespasser. Clinton Township officers subsequently located and apprehended the suspect on Old Mountain Road in Clinton Township.”
The agencies involved in the case included the Tewksbury Township Police Department, Clinton Township Police Department, Readington Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police Perryville Station, New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. K-9 Units from Readington Township and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office were involved.
The Prosecutor added, “I would like to commend the officers involved with these apprehensions. This was a very dangerous situation for them and the entire community. Thankfully, these two individuals were taken into custody.”
This is an active investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
