Problem Oriented Policing Unit Arrests Eleven
On Friday, June 2nd 2017, the Anderson Police Departments P.O.P. Team began summer time enforcement operations in local residential neighborhoods. The P.O.P. team which is partially funded by revenue generated from the 2014 sales tax initiative, spent a few hours conducting general enforcement efforts in the Bruce Street area.
As a result of the operation, eleven total arrests were made. Six arrest warrants were served and five additional arrests were made. Three arrests were made for narcotic related offenses and two arrests were made for miscellaneous misdemeanor offenses. Approximately 30 contacts were made which included a number of probation searches, vehicle enforcement stops and pedestrian contacts. In addition to the arrests, P.O.P. members located and stopped a vehicle that was occupied by a subject wanted for questioning by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
The Problem Oriented Policing Unit deploys a number of enforcement techniques including plain clothes and undercover operations designed to combat crime and enhance the quality of life for citizens living in the community. Enforcement actions are design to be aggressive and target specified problem areas and offenders within the city.
