Two suspects arrested in connection with several West Covina school burglaries
DATE OF RELEASE: June 6, 2017
Time: 1530 hours
On Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2256 hours, West Covina PD responded to a burglary alarm at Orangewood School located at 1440 S. Orange Avenue, West Covina. Officers arriving at the scene saw one suspect running through the campus and a containment was established. With the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Air 21 Helicopter, a second suspect was spotted hiding in the school grass field. He was taken into custody without incident. The first suspect seen running was not located.
Officers searched the school and found several broken windows to classrooms where a pellet gun was used. Computers were taken from within the classrooms. Two pellet guns were also found on the roof of one classroom. Further investigation led officers to a vehicle owned by the detained suspect where several computers belonging to the school were located.
During this investigation, West Covina Detectives learned the identity of the outstanding suspect. This suspect was contacted and he surrendered himself to Detectives at WCPD on Monday evening, June 5, 2017 at about 8:30 pm. The suspect brought with him computers stolen from the school burglary.
Investigators were able to link the two suspects to 4 other previously reported school burglaries in West Covina. They occurred as follows:

Carlos Rene Martinez, 18 of Baldwin Park Bail $20,000.00 (cited out)
Mario Isaac Madrid, 18 of West Covina Bail $20,000.00 (posted bond)
