K-9 Aero Makes Short Work of Drug Offender During Enforcement Stop
On Sunday, June 11th 2017 at about 7:46 A.M., Anderson Police Officer’s contacted 31 year old, Joshua Ray Vansteen of Anderson, California. Vansteen was well known to the officers who had stopped him for minor vehicle code violations on Pinion Avenue just west of State Route Highway 273. Vansteen, who is a previous narcotics registrant, told the officers that he did not have anything illegal in his vehicle during the stop. However, when Anderson Police K-9 Aero was deployed, he quickly alerted the officers to the presence of an odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.
A subsequent search of Vansteen’s vehicle was conducted and officers recovered and seized over 17 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sales. Vansteen, who has numerous prior arrests for narcotic violations was taken into custody and booked at the Shasta County Jail for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Additional felony charges will be sought against Vansteen through the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
