Man Arrested for narcotics warrants following vehicle pursuit
On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at approximately 03:20 a.m., a Hope Mills Police Officer observed a black in color Toyota traveling on Rockfish Road towards Camden Road. The vehicle was weaving off the roadway, so the Officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and activated their blue light and siren. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Cory Dexter Fennell, b/m 34, of the 100 block of Austin Drive Fayetteville, stopped the vehicle and the Officer made contact with him. The Officer approached the vehicle and after advising the driver of why he was stropped, requested his driver’s license and registration. The driver then acted like he was trying to locate the requested items when he put the vehicle in drive and sped away. The Officer pursued the vehicle on rockfish road to Deaver Circle and then onto Hackberry Drive where the driver stopped the vehicle and fled from the scene. After a canvas search of the area by responding Officers, the driver was located hiding in the closet of an apartment in the 6200 block of Hackberry Drive. Mr. Fennell was then taken into custody without further incident. After identifying Mr. Fennell, it was discovered that he had multiple outstanding Felony Warrants for narcotics violations.
