Detectives investigate the sexual assault of a young woman at the Team Art Collective Tattoo shop

DATE/TIME: Thursday, June 1, 2017 at approximately 9:48 AM

INCIDENT: Rape Investigation

LOCATION: Team Art Collective Tattoo, 14757 Bear Valley Road, Hesperia

SUSPECT: Henry Camarena, age 43, Resident of Hesperia

VICTIM: Confidential - 19-Year-Old female

SUMMARY:
On Thursday June 1, 2017 at approximately 9:48 am, a deputy with the Hesperia Sheriff Station responded to a call for service in regards to an alleged sexual assault that occurred on May 31, 2017. The victim, a 19-year-old female, was reporting she was sexually assaulted while receiving a tattoo from the suspect, Henry Camarena, owner of Team Art Collective Tattoo in Hesperia.

After the initial report, the case was turned over to the Hesperia Detective Bureau for investigation. A search warrant was served at the suspects tattoo business, Team Art Collective Tattoo in Hesperia, where evidence was recovered corroborating the victim’s statements. Based on the victim’s statements and evidence recovered during the search warrant, an arrest warrant was obtained for Camarena, who was believed to be out of the area.

Through additional investigation it was learned that Camarena was staying in Baldwin Park, CA. Detectives and members of the Hesperia Station Gang Team contacted Camarena at the Baldwin Park residence and was taken into custody without incident. Camarena was booked into West Valley Detention Center for PC 261(a)(3), where he is currently being held with bail set at $500,000.

Based on the circumstances surrounding this sexual assault, it is possible that there are additional victims.
