Anderson Man Struck by Freight Train

On Tuesday evening, 6-20-17 at approximately 1909 hours, APD Officers were advised an intoxicated white male adult had been seen in the area of Ox Yoke Road and S/R 273. Officers arrived on scene immediately and began searching for the subject in the area of the railroad tracks and S/R 273. Two Anderson residents were seen near the railroad tracks and stated they were also looking for the subject, as he was suspected of trying to break into a business in the jurisdiction of Shasta County. Anderson Officers were advised the subject was most likely in an adjacent field, east of the railroad tracks.

A Union Pacific freight train was northbound on the railroad tracks. According to Union Pacific personnel, the reportedly intoxicated subject had been laying across the railroad tracks between Alexander Avenue and Ox Yoke Road and was struck by the train, causing fatal injuries. This incident is still under investigation and the victim has not yet been identified.
