Friendly reminder: Call Animal Control if you find a bat inside your home, business or building. DON'T TOUCH THEM!!!

Public Notice: It's that time of the year again when Animal Control, along with Canyon Police personnel are receiving bat complaints. The Canyon Police Department, and the City of Amarillo Animal management work together during the migration period of these bats. Bat problems are primary received between April and October each year. These bats are small brown bats, or Mexican free-tails.
RULE OF THUMB: DO NOT TOUCH. Anyone finding a bat inside their home, business, or structure in Canyon, should immediately call Animal Control or the Canyon Police Department. Allow us to capture and have the animal tested. Individuals who believe they have been exposed too, or bitten by a bat, should make immediate treatment arraignment through the City of Amarillo Department of Public Health. Treatment is a life saver in regards to rabies. Remember, without the treatment, contracted rabies is deadly. Stay safe!!
