Modesto, CA – More information is released following Saturday’s triple homicide in northwest Modesto.

Just after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to the 1600 block of Bay Meadows Drive to investigate an assault. When they arrived they found 30-year-old Tiffany Espinoza, 9-year-old Spencer Giese, and 4-year-old Edward Espinoza, deceased inside the home. Oscar Espinoza, 28 years old, was located in front of the residence with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he received treatment.

During the investigation, detectives learned that on Saturday evening, officers first responded to the family’s residence after receiving a call requesting a security check. Officers attempted to contact the residents inside the home; however, there was no answer at the door. About a half hour later, officers responded back to the home after receiving additional information that there was a bloodied male down on the front porch and others possibly injured inside. When officers arrived they contacted Espinoza and during a security check inside the home, they discovered the deceased victims.

Although an official cause of death has not been released by the coroner, the victims’ injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma. Evidence at the scene indicates that the murders occurred late Friday evening or early Saturday morning.

Today, Espinoza was released from the hospital and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for three counts of murder.
