DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE ENDS WITH K9 APPREHENSION
On 06-22-2017, at approximately 0523 hours, Anderson Police Officer’s responded to Anderson River Park for a report of an altercation between and male and female. The reporting party had heard a male and female yelling at each other and believed the altercation had turned physical.
Officer’s arrived in the area in an attempt to locate the subjects involved. Officer’s located an involved female who reported there was in fact a domestic violence incident in which domestic battery occurred between her and a male suspect, Nolan Taylor, 33 years old of Redding. Taylor fled the scene on a bicycle before Officer’s arrived.
After the initial investigation was completed, an APD Officer provided the female transportation to a residence on the opposite side of town where she would be safe. While driving to the location, that same Officer observed Taylor riding a bicycle near the rail road tracks on Barney Street. Taylor was wanted for the current domestic violence incident, two felony warrants for weapons charges, and additionally Taylor was on felony probation out of Shasta County for weapons related charges.
Additional APD Officers responded to the scene to assist. Taylor refused to obey Officer’s commands and attempted to flee the scene on his bicycle. Taylor was apprehended a short time later with the assistance of APD K9 Chance in addition to a Taser deployment.
Taylor was later treated at local hospital before being booked into the Shasta County Jail for two outstanding felony warrants, domestic violence related charges, probation violation, and resisting arrest.
