CELL PHONE THEFT PREVENTION TIPS
               
Cell phone theft is a major problem in the Wilshire Area as well as the rest of the city. Typically, the thief will steal an unattended phone or snatch the phone from the user’s hand and run.  The stolen phones are then sold on the black market.  A cell phones resale value can range from $100-$300.
 
Don’t be a victim.

1. BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS: *Using your cell phone in public will make you more vulnerable to being a victim. Try to limit exposure of the device, especially in crowded areas.
   *When using headphones, keep the volume at a low level so you can still hear traffic and your surroundings.
   *Never position your cell phone where someone can snatch and grab it from you.  (your hands or back pocket)
    
2. DO NOT LEAVE PROPERTY UNATTENDED:               *Do not leave your cell phone on a table, counter or open area allowing someone to walk off with the device. *Never leave a cell phone in plain view in a vehicle.                                                                                 
3. STEPS TO PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION:  *Set up a Password or PIN   *Download apps, including Find My iPhone (and Find My Phone for Android), will allow you to remotely track, lock, or erase the data on your device if it lost or stolen                              *Always save your data and photos at periodic intervals so you still have access to your information in the event your device is lost or stolen
