Las Cruces Utilities will shut off water in the area of Colorado Avenue from Solano Drive to Mimbres Street to repair a main line starting at 8 p.m. today, not 10 p.m. as previously announced, and the procedure is now scheduled to last approximately 4-6 hours.

Once service is restored, water could appear discolored due to naturally occurring iron and manganese. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

Any discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents and businesses should flush all cold water faucets for five minutes. If discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for assistance.
