Suspect arrested for Murder and Felony Hit and Run
Campbell, CA – The Campbell Police Department is currently investigating the first murder to have occurred in the city in over two years. On June 28, 2017, an arrest was made of an individual suspected of murder and felony hit and run.
On June 27, 2017 at approximately 7:17 am, the Campbell Police Department responded to Leigh Avenue and Montemar Way after receiving a call about an auto-pedestrian collision and a second caller reporting a disturbance at the same location. Arriving Officers found a twenty three year-old female suffering from major injuries lying in the roadway on Montemar Way near the intersection of Leigh Avenue. The victim was transported to Valley Medical Center where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries later in the day.
Witnesses at the scene described a gray four door vehicle fleeing the scene being driven by a female. San Jose resident Elsie De La Rosa, 23 years, was identified as the possible driver of the vehicle and is a known associate of the victim. The neighborhood where the incident occurred is not associated with any of the involved parties who appear to have arrived at the location by chance in the same vehicle where they got into an altercation.
On June 28 at approximately 11:50 am, De La Rosa was taken into custody in the area of MacArthur Avenue and Pfeffer Lane by Campbell Police Officers. De La Rosa was contacted in the vehicle believed to be the one involved in the incident. De La Rosa was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder and felony hit and run.
