Over the past week plus, the Raritan Township Police Department has received numerous calls reporting vehicle burglaries in several residential developments in the township. Separate reports have been taken from residents of the Sun Ridge, Maple Glen and Carriage Gate developments. Common to all reports is that unknown actor(s) entered unlocked vehicles and stole electronic equipment and accessories, such as GPS Units and cell phone chargers, etc. It appears that all incidents occurred between roughly Midnight and 5:00 AM on the dates reported.

The Raritan Township Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents of and visitors to the township of the recommendation to leave all vehicles locked while unattended. The department also recommends that valuable items not be left in plain view in parked vehicles, whether or not those vehicles are locked. The warmer weather of the summer months generally brings an increase in these types of incidents. The department is hopeful that an increase in the number of locked vehicles will show a decrease in these types of incidents.
