Detectives Investigate an Early Morning Stabbing

Modesto, CA – Detectives are looking for the suspect believed to be responsible for fatally stabbing a man in west Modesto.
At about 5:30 this morning, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call requesting law enforcement assistance on I Street near 4th Street. Once on scene, officers found a man on the sidewalk who had been stabbed. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The early investigation indicates that the victim and the suspect were in a physical altercation in the alleyway between 4th and 5th Streets at I Street. The fight continued onto the sidewalk at I and 4th Streets where the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the area. The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male adult in his 20’s, 5’6” to 5’9”, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and red suede shoes.
