A state prison inmate has been placed on escape status after
leaving a minimum-security facility in Rapid City without authorization.
Inmate Christian Voldbaek, age 21, left the Rapid City Community Work Center July 4.
Voldbaek is currently serving a 10-year sentence out of Lawrence County with four years suspended for distribution of a controlled substance, a five-year sentence out of Lawrence County for forgery, a two-year sentence out of Lawrence County for eluding a police officer and a five-year sentence out of Butte County for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance. All of the sentences are being served concurrently.
Voldbaek is a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 and 155 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Anyone who sees Voldbaek should contact local law enforcement
immediately.
South Dakota Codified Law 22-11A-2.1 states that leaving a non-secure correctional facility without authorization constitutes second-degree escape, a class 5 felony, and is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison. South Dakota Codified Law 22-11A-5 states that any person who conceals any prisoner knowing that the prisoner has escaped is guilty of a class 5 felony.
