In order to provide safe, smooth, high-performance crossings for the motoring public, SEPTA will be renewing the grade crossings at two locations within Lansdale Borough. The two locations receiving upgrades will be Fifth Street as well as Seventh Street.

Construction will begin at the Fifth Street crossing on Monday, July 10 and is anticipated to continue through Friday, July 14, 2017. In order to facilitate construction, Fifth Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic at the railroad crossing for the duration of the project. Traffic will be detoured around construction on Walnut Street to Seventh Street then to Maple Avenue and back onto Fifth Street. Signage will be listed to direct drivers through the detour. Additionally, there will be a temporary No Parking area on the west side of Walnut Street where it meets Seventh Street; signs will be posted marking the area. As with all construction projects, work is weather dependent and changes will be posted.

Upon completion of work at Fifth Street, construction for the Seventh Street upgrade will begin on Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21, 2017. During construction, Seventh Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at the crossing. Vehicles will be detoured around construction off Seventh Street to Walnut Street then to Fifth Street onto Maple Avenue and then back onto Seventh Street. During this construction, there will be a temporary No Parking restriction on the west side of Walnut Street with the appropriate signage. Again, work is weather dependent and changes will be posted.
