Multi-Agency search warrant and arrest
On July 6, 2017, the Menlo Park Police Investigations Unit along with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) executed an early morning search warrant in the City of Stockton, California with the assistance of F.B.I SWAT, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office and Santa Clara County REACT Task Force. The search warrant was the culmination of a lengthy investigation into counterfeiting, identify theft and forgery.
During the execution of the warrant and subsequent search of the residence, a “honey oil” lab was located inside a garage.” Honey oil” is also called "hash oil" or "wax." It is created when someone uses butane to extract THC from marijuana.
A large stockpile of different caliber ammunition was located along with numerous items used to manufacture improvised destructive devices. The F.B.I and San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad were alerted and responded to the location. The neighboring residences were evacuated for a short period of time while the items were investigated and collected by the Bomb Squad. Once the area was deemed safe, all residents were allowed back into their homes.
The suspect is identified as Robert Jay Watson II, a 38 year old Stockton resident. A Menlo Park Police arrest warrant in the amount of $600,000 had also been issued for his arrest for the following charges:
•2 counts-530.5(d)(2) PC-Sell/transfer ID info for ID theft
•2 counts-530.5(d)(1) PC-Sell/transfer ID info w/intent
•2 counts-530.5(c)(3) PC-Possess w/intent ID of 10 or more
Watson II was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on the Menlo Park Police arrest warrant and will be charged with the following on-view crimes:
•18720 PC-Possession of materials to make a destructive device
•18715(a)(3) PC-Possession of a destructive device in a residence
•12677 PC-Possess dangerous fireworks without a permit
•11379.6 H&S-Manufacturing/convert by chemical extraction or synthesis a controlled substance
•30305(a)(1) PC-Prohibited person own/possess/ammunition/etc.
