HMPD Officers Arrest Two for Possessing Stolen Vehicle
On Monday, June 26, 2017 at approximately 10:45pm, a Hope Mills Police Officer was patrolling in the area of South Main Street and Cameron Road when he became aware that the vehicle in front of him had been reported stolen to another agency several weeks earlier. The Officer continued to follow the vehicle, a gray in color 2002 Chrysler Sebring, until other Officers were positioned to assist the Officer with stopping the vehicle. After the other Officers arrived in the area, they stopped the vehicle without incident in the area of Rockfish Road and Hunting Ridge Road where they made contact with and, detained the occupants of the vehicle. Officers identified the driver as Lupeirum Marcellous Burns, 19 of the 4400 block of Ellenbrook Drive, Fayetteville and identified the passenger as Ricky Rashad Mcdonald, 26 of the 3900 block of AB Carter Road, Fayetteville. During the course of their investigation, Officers confirmed that the vehicle was indeed stolen and they also located a rifle in the back seat of the vehicle. Officers arrested both subjects and transported them to the Cumberland County Detention Center where they were jailed on the following charges:
