McDonald Creek Bridge Replacement (Bridge Closed beginning July 10th, 2017 - Use Alternate Routes)
McDonald Creek Bridge is currently 24’ wide. It is seismically vulnerable and considered functionally obsolete due to the narrow width and high traffic volume. Nearly 5,000 vehicles pass over it each day. Over the past 20 years, the County has gradually widened and improved the full ten miles of Old Olympic Highway including replacement of two other bridges. McDonald Creek bridge is the final bottleneck on Old Olympic Highway. Replacing this last bridge will bring this regionally significant route and the structures on the roadway corridor up to current design and environmental standards.
Clallam County intends to replace this bridge beginning in the summer of 2017. Old Olympic Highway will be closed at this location for approximately 8 months. We anticipate it will reopen to traffic in the spring of 2018.
There are multiple alternate routes around the closure area. Visit the County website for more information: http://www.clallam.net/Roads/McDonaldCreek.html
