Robbery Occurs at Popular Thousand Oaks Park

At about 6:20 AM, Thousand Oaks Police Officers responded to a robbery that just occurred at Wildwood Park.

Officers learned a female was jogging in Wildwood Park, on the Mesa, approximately 1 mile west of the Avenida De Los Arboles entrance. The female heard foot steps behind her. The female turned and saw a male with his face covered approaching her from behind. There was a short struggle and in the process, the suspect took the victim’s cell phone. The victim was not injured.

The suspect ran toward the Avenida De Los Arboles entrance and was last seen running north on Big Sky Drive. The Big Sky neighborhood and surrounding areas were searched by police officers, the Sheriff’s Air Unit and a K-9. The suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as tall, wearing all dark clothing. If anyone has information or witnessed this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office at 805-371-8383.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to encourage runners to run in pairs when traversing on remote trails and to carry a cell phone for emergencies.
