Update: Water supply mostly restored in area of Walnut/33rd. Additional information attached.
At approximately 0717 hours, the Signal Hill Police Department was notified of a water main break in the area of Walnut Avenue and 33rd Street. Public Works was on scene within minutes to shut the water off and to begin to reroute the water supply. Residents and businesses in the area were impacted for a short time. One building and possibly a local elementary school may still be affected. Most residents and businesses in the area have restored water supply. However, there have been some reports the water may be brown with sediment and/or have air pockets. The water department will be flushing the lines to resolve those issues. Residents and businesses are encouraged to flush lines until water flows normally. Public Works will continue to work on the water main in the area of Walnut Avenue and 33rd Street. The leak is expected to be fixed within 24 to 48 hours. It is NOT anticipated that water supply will be interrupted during that time.
