Noblesville, IN: On July 18, 2017, the Noblesville Police Department held a ceremony to promote three (3) officers. The ceremony took place in the council chambers located at City Hall. In attendance for the event were family members, friends, members of the community, government officials and officers of the police department. Chief Kevin Jowitt officiated the ceremony.

Chief Jowitt promoted Detective Mike Sadler, Patrolmen Jordan Granger and Greg Kehl to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt.). Sgt. Sadler’s promotion was effective on March 13, 2017 while Sgt. Granger and Kehl’s became effective on July 17, 2017.

Sgt. Sadler was hired by NPD on August 11, 1997. Prior to his promotion, Sgt. Sadler served in the Criminal Investigation Division as a detective. Sgt. Sadler will continue to serve in the Criminal Investigation Division as a supervisor of detectives.

Sgt. Granger was hired by NPD on August 26, 2010. Prior to his promotion, Sgt. Granger served in the Patrol Division as a patrol officer. Sgt. Granger will continue to serve in the Patrol Division as a field supervisor.

Sgt. Kehl was hired by NPD on September 10, 2007. Prior to his promotion, Sgt. Kehl served in the Patrol Division as a patrol officer. Sgt. Kehl will remain in the Patrol Division as a field supervisor.

Advancement to the rank of sergeant is a merit promotion within the Noblesville Police Department. Patrol officers and detectives are eligible to apply for the sergeant promotion process. Interested candidates must submit to a formal evaluation process. The process is comprised of a number of components to include a written examination, oral interview, assessment exercises, and a review of past performance. The process is extremely competitive and is administered every two (2) years in order to establish an eligibility list. A one-year probationary period is required of all officers who are promoted.
