APD Arrests Most Wanted Suspect After Pursuit

On Friday, July 21, 2017, at about 11:18 AM officers with the Anderson Police Department were dispatched to Rue 21 at the Shasta Gateway Outlets for a report of a female attempting to steal items from the business. The reporting party knew the female from prior thefts to be Bobbilee BALLINGER, age 24, of Anderson.

BALLINGER was recently featured on the Shasta County’s Most Wanted listed and had three felony warrants for her arrest for probation violations and vehicle theft. BALLINGER was also on felony probation out of Shasta County for Arson.

When officers arrived at the scene BALLINGER observed them approaching. BALLINGER then got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
A pursuit ensued traveling southbound from Anderson towards Kimberly Rd. and Panorama Point. Officers pursued BALLINGER reaching speed of approximately 80 MPH.

At one point BALLINGER left the roadway and began driving down a private driveway in the area of Green Acres Rd. BALLINGER then entered an agriculture field that had recently been harvested.

While attempting to elude officers in the field BALLINGER’s vehicle struck a tree stump, causing her vehicle to become disabled. BALLINGER fled from the vehicle and ran towards an A.C.I.D. (Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation District) canal. Officers pursued BALLINGER on foot and were able to apprehend her.

BALLINGER was arrested and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, as she had sustained injuries from not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.

BALLINGER was subsequently booked into the Shasta County Jail on her felony warrants, as well as a new, prison eligible, charge of felony evading a peace officer and resisting arrest.

When asked why she fled BALLINGER advised the officer she believed she had a ten year prison sentence pending if she was arrested.
