Prolonged period of wet weather could last through Saturday and drop up to 2 inches of rain over North Jersey.
A "prolonged period" of wet weather could last through Saturday and wind up dropping up to 2 inches of rain over North Jersey and as much as 3 inches over South Jersey, depending on the location and speed of a coastal storm that is expected to develop near New Jersey, the National Weather Service says. Thunderstorms could push totals even higher in some areas.
The storm could have some characteristics of a nor'easter, with heavy downpours and gusty winds, but it likely won't have the intense northeasterly winds that are usually associated with nor'easters that form during winter months
