On July 28, 2017, at approximately 11:30 PM, the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a 911 call of a stabbing that occurred at Mitchell Park, located in the 1400 Block of Osos. Officers responded and located one female victim who suffered a stab wound to her arm. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury. The victim was released from the hospital a few hours later.
While officers were arriving at Mitchell Park a male victim reported that the suspect, later identified as Patrick Egerton, had left the area on foot and provided officers with a description. SLOPD Bicycle Officers responded to the area and located Egerton in a parking lot in the 800 block of Pacific. Officers attempted to detain Egerton, but he failed to obey their commands. During the struggle with Egerton one of the officers sustained minor injuries. The officer was later treated at the hospital and released. After the struggle, Egerton was taken into custody.
During the investigation, it was determined that Egerton originally attempted to stab the male victim, but the female victim intervened and was stabbed in her arm. Suspect Egerton was arrested on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of resisting arrest. He is currently being held at County Jail on $25,000 bail.
