STORM INCIDENT

As most of you are aware Florence Township was hit with a significant storm last evening that brought both heavy rain and wind. During the storm the Florence Township Police Department and Florence Township Fire Department answered 84 calls for service to include trees down, flooded roadways, vehicles stuck in flooded roadways, traffic signal out and power lines down. Thankfully there were no storm related injuries reported.

The Florence Township Public Works Department is now in the process of clearing the debris from the roadways. Please place all debris from your yard that you want picked up in the grass near the curb. Be sure not to place the debris in the roadway or block the sidewalk. Public Works has personnel assigned to drive around town and pick up the debris. Due to the large amount of branches and debris it may take them a couple of days to get to your pile.

Before approaching branches or trees down please be sure that there are no wires near or in the branches. Treat all wires that are down as energized with electricity. Also be aware of downed wires on fences as this may create an unseen electrical hazard If you have wire down and believe that they are power wires contact Burlington County Central Communications at (609)267-8300.
