On Tuesday, August 8th 2017, at about 5:30 A.M., members of the Anderson Police Department, City of Anderson Code Enforcement, and Anderson Fire Protection District came together in a joint effort to target illegal encampments in the City of Anderson. These locations included illegal camps set up on both public and private property.

The teams utilized ATV off road vehicles along with 4x4 sport utility vehicles to access some of these remote camps. The teams contacted fourteen individuals within these encampments, eleven of which received citations. The citations ranged from violations of illegal camping, warrants, drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of shopping carts, and misappropriation of found property.

All individuals contacted were provided a pamphlet outlining resources within the county to assist with housing, food, clothing, medical care, employment assistance, and transportation assistance.
