INCREASED ROAD TRAFFIC – BICYCLIST AND RUNNERS SHARING ROADWAY DURING OLYMPIAD WEEKEND
Notice to Lake Lure travelers during the weekend of August 11, 12 &13. Due to the Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad, Runners and Bicyclist will be sharing the roadways with vehicles. Please use caution when you’re driving this weekend throughout town. There will be runners on Friday evening between the hours 1900-2030 (7pm-8:30pm) using Hwy 9, Memorial Hwy, Buffalo Shoals and Buffalo Creek.
Saturday morning between the hours of 0800-1100 Bicyclist will be using Buffalo Shoals, Buffalo Creek, Bill’s Creek, Cedar Creek and the intersection of Cedar Creek and Conner Town Rd..
Sunday between the hours of 0730-0900 Bicyclist will be on Main Street in Chimney Rock, Memorial Hwy/ 64/74A, Bill’s Creek, Buffalo Creek and Buffalo Shoals as well as the roadway in Chimney Rock State Park.
As well, runners and cyclist will be practicing and enjoying our roadways throughout town all weekend and we ask that drivers use caution while in Lake Lure.
