Serial Thief Arrested by APD after Pursuit
On Sunday, August 13th 2017, at about 3:00 P.M., an Anderson Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on 28 year old, Palo Cedro resident, Craig Steven Ferguson. Ferguson was wanted on four outstanding arrest warrants, and was also wanted in conjunction with a string of vehicle thefts dating back to early July, when two commercial panel trucks were taken from a local Anderson fence company.
Today, Craig Ferguson was driving an unreported, stolen Ford F250 and failed to yield to the officer initiating the traffic stop. A 40 minute pursuit ensued reaching speeds of over 100 MPH. The Pursuit started at the south end of Anderson and ended on East Fern Road in Whitmore, California. APD was assisted by the CHP helicopter and Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies who used a spike strip to get the vehicle stopped. Craig Ferguson and his girlfriend, 29 year old, Palo Cedro resident, Kristen Anna Wise were arrested at the pursuit termination point after surrendering immediately to the Anderson police officer who had readied his police canine for deployment.
Kristen Wise had been arrested by Anderson Police on August 10th 2017 after possibly being involved in an attempted robbery at a local Anderson tire store. She was found at the time to be in possession of a Taurus 9mm handgun, mask, gloves, scanner and Billy club. Wise was driving a different Ford F250 during her earlier arrest on August 10th and Anderson Police subsequently impounded it along with her dog. The F250 was stolen later that day by Ferguson from the impound lot but later recovered by CHP. The dog had also been stolen from the custody of a local animal control facility.
As Wise was taken into custody with Ferguson after the pursuit, the stolen dog was located inside the stolen truck driven by Ferguson. Ferguson and Wise were both transported to the Shasta County Jail and booked without incident on several felonious, theft related charges. Ferguson was also booked for felony evasion after driving in a willful and reckless manner, with no regard for public safety, while trying to evade Anderson Police.
