Man on motorcycle Leads Milford PD on high speed pursuit, ends in crash and arrest of suspect.

On 08/14/2017 at approximately 7:52 pm Officers with the Milford Police Department were responding to 310 Turkey Creek Dr. Milford regarding persons at that location who may have been tampering with a crime scene. The trailer located at 310 Turkey Creek Dr. was destroyed in an early morning fire on 08/14/2017 determined to be suspicious.
While approaching the residence a male subject later identified as John A. Slabaugh, 47 of Nappanee, IN fled from police on his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. John A. Slabaugh led officer on a high speed pursuit south bound on Old Rd 15 and then southbound on SR 15 through Warsaw.
John A. Slabaugh crashed his motorcycle when Detroit St. ended into a wooded area. While apprehending the suspect Lt. Tim Miller with the Milford Police Department suffered an injury to his right hand. Lt. Miller was treated and released from KCH. Officer Brandon Shipp was the second officer riding with Lt. Miller during the pursuit and assisted in the apprehension.
John A. Slabaugh was asked about his injuries and was checked out by EMS before being transported to the Kosciusko County Jail where he was booked on the following charges: Resisting Law Enforcement using a vehicle a class 6 felony; Reckless Driving a class “A” misdemeanor; and Driving While Suspended Prior a class “A” misdemeanor.
The Milford Police Department was assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Warsaw Police Department, and Lutheran EMS. All accusations are alleged at this point and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in the court of law.
