Elderly Phone Scam Alert
On June 7, 2017 - a male pretending to be the victim’s grandson, called her to notify her that he was in jail and he needed her to send him $4,000 to get out of jail.

- On that day the victim went to Wal Mart and purchased $4,000 in gift cards; she provided the subject with the gift card numbers.

- The subject then requested her to open a new bank account to transfer money into the account for legal fees. The victim eventually noticed $10,000 missing from her account.

- Total Loss: $14,000
 

On June 23, 2017 the victim received a phone call from a male subject who represented himself as a "Malware Protection Agent."

- Suspect told the victim she is receiving a $250 rebate and requested the victim’s bank info.

- The victim talked to the male several times between July 23 - 28. On July 28th, she noticed $20,000 missing from her bank account.
